Lorbo ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by DEFRICTION LLC. We operate the journaling service available at lorbo.app and through SMS messaging (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Service.

By using Lorbo, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Conversation Data

  • Messages you send to and receive from Lorbo via SMS or web chat
  • Journal entries generated from your conversations

My World & Preferences

  • People, pets, and groups you tell Lorbo about
  • Locations, preferences, and important dates you share
  • Journal voice and style preferences

Usage Data

  • Device type and browser information
  • Pages visited and features used
  • Interaction timestamps

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the Lorbo journaling service, including daily conversations and journal entry generation
  • Process your conversations through AI to create personalized journal entries
  • Send you messages via your chosen messaging channel (SMS or web chat)
  • Improve and maintain the Service
  • Communicate with you about your account and Service updates

4. AI Processing

Lorbo uses third-party AI language models to power conversations and generate journal entries. Your conversation messages are sent to AI providers for processing. We currently use Anthropic (Claude), but may change providers as we improve the service. We only use providers whose terms prohibit training on your data.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Lorbo:

  • Supabase — Database hosting and authentication
  • Anthropic — AI conversation and journal generation (provider may change)
  • Telnyx — SMS message delivery
  • Railway — Application hosting

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing their use of your data. We only share the minimum information necessary for each service to function.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data, including conversation history and journal entries, within 30 days. Some data may be retained in encrypted backups for up to 90 days.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your journal entries and conversation data
  • Opt out of SMS messaging at any time by replying STOP to any message or disabling SMS in your account settings

9. Children's Privacy

Lorbo is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected data from a person under 18, we will delete it promptly.

10. SMS Messaging

If you opt in to SMS messaging, you consent to receive recurring automated conversational text messages from Lorbo at the phone number you provide. Message frequency varies (up to 20 messages per day during active conversations). Message and data rates may apply.

You can opt out at any time by texting STOP. For help, text HELP or contact [email protected]. No mobile information will be sold to or shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We may share your Personal Data, including your SMS opt-in or consent status, with third parties that help us provide our messaging services, including but not limited to platform providers, phone companies, and any other vendors who assist us in the delivery of text messages.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the Service. Your continued use of Lorbo after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
