1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Lorbo journaling service at lorbo.app or through SMS (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Lorbo is an AI-powered journaling service operated by DEFRICTION LLC. An AI character named Lorbo chats with you daily about your life, then generates narrative journal entries from those conversations. The Service is available via SMS text messaging and the web at lorbo.app.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Lorbo. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age.

4. Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

5. SMS Messaging Terms

By opting in during account setup, you consent to receive recurring automated text messages from Lorbo at the phone number you provide. These messages are part of the Lorbo daily journaling program.

  • Program name: Lorbo Daily Journal
  • Message frequency: Varies; up to 20 messages per day during active conversations
  • Message and data rates may apply. Contact your carrier for details.
  • To opt out, text STOP at any time. You will receive a confirmation message and no further messages will be sent.
  • For help, text HELP or email [email protected].

Your phone number and opt-in consent will not be shared with or sold to third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers are used solely to deliver the Lorbo journaling service.

Supported carriers include major US carriers. Service may not be available on all carriers. Lorbo is not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

6. AI-Generated Content

Journal entries and conversations are generated by AI language models. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or misinterpretations of your conversations. Journal entries are creative narratives inspired by your conversations, not factual records. You should not rely on them as accurate documentation of events.

7. Your Content

You retain ownership of the content you share with Lorbo, including your messages and the personal information you provide. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your content as necessary to provide the Service, including sending it to AI providers for conversation and journal generation.

You are responsible for the content you share. Do not use Lorbo to transmit unlawful, threatening, abusive, or otherwise objectionable content.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited messages to others
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Use automated tools to access the Service beyond normal use

9. Service Availability

We strive to keep Lorbo available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lorbo and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases and your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the Service. Your continued use of Lorbo after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
